Thanksgiving has many different meanings to people. To some it means family time. To others it is all about the food. To me, Thanksgiving is about giving thanks for all that I have. I may not be as fortunate as some, but I have so much to be thankful for.
I am thankful for my family. Though it is just my mom, dad, and brother, they are still my family. My family has done so much for me. My mom is my best friend. I am thankful for having a mom I can talk to and share my secrets with. I know that some people do not have that kind of relationship with their mothers, if they have a relationship with their mothers at all. My dad and I have been through a lot. We butt heads sometimes, but when it comes down to it, there is nothing he will not do for me and my brother. My little brother means a lot to me too. He may get on my nerves, but I would not trade him for the world. Moving off to college has made me realize how much I do love my family and how much I miss them when I am away.
I am also thankful for my friends. Old ones and new ones. My old friends have been there for me through so much. High school was not always easy for me. My friends being there for me, however, did help ease the struggle a little bit. Now that I am at college, I have made so many new friends. I am excited to know these awesome people. My dorm friends are great. They make moving away from home a little easier. They make dorm life so much fun and so interesting. One never knows what is going to happen when it comes to them. My friends in my classes that do not live in the dorms. They are great too. They make class so much fun. In some cases, if it was not for my friends in my classes, I would not even want to go. My sorority sisters are my best friends. I love them all. They all make me laugh. Those girls are some of the best girls anyone could ever meet. I am so lucky and thankful to be able to call them my sisters. Having the friends that I do makes me feel so blessed.
There are so many other things that I am thankful for. Most of all I am thankful that God has blessed me to be able to get out of bed every morning. Tomorrow is not promised. God giving me another day to live is such a blessing that I am forever thankful for.
