Last Tuesday I had been suffering from some intense chest pains. The cough I had had for the past week and a half still bothered me as well. I called my mom and told her what had been going, and she told me that I needed to go to the doctor first thing the next morning. My mother got off the phone with me and called my aunt, and asked her if she would mind going with me to the doctor the next morning. My aunt told my mom that she would.
I get up Wednesday morning with my chest and cough still bothering me. It did not really hurt to breath, but breathing was uncomfortable. My aunt comes to pick me up and off to the doctor we go. I sign in and go to the lobby to wait. Luckily I did not have to wait very long. They took me on back and did all of the preliminary things, such as take my temperature and blood pressure. No fever and my blood pressure looked good. Then I get into my room and wait for the upcoming events. First, an EKG. The PA said I needed one because I said my chest hurt. The EKG came out normal, as I suspected it would. Then came the chest x-rays. After the x-rays, I went back to my room and saw another PA. He said that I needed to have some blood drawn so they could run a couple more tests. Having my blood drawn does not bother me at all because back home I have to get blood drawn all the time to check a bunch of things. So, I sat back and let them take some blood. Next, the PA sais he was going to give me a breathing treatment to help clear out my lungs from the mucas build up. I sat there with the breathing treatment for what seemed like forever. After the breathing treatment ended, the doctor came in. He asked me if I had ever been diagnosed with asthma. I told him no. He in turn told me that I had it and I also had a deep chest cold. He prescribed me an inhaler, some cough syrup, and an antibiotic. He also told me that I needed to get a lot of rest and asked me if I lived at home. When I told him I lived in the dorms, he told me that I needed to be at home because that would be the place that I could get the most and best rest possible. After a little more discussion he wrote me a note to excuse me from class for the rest of the week, and then I could go.
After leaving the doctor's office, my aunt took me to get my medicine. We had to wait a good bit on that because they were quite busy. Finally, after getting my medicine, my aunt took me back to the dorms so I could pack to go home. I had to pack quite a bit because of Thanksgiving break. After all of my packing, I got in my car and headed home.
