In biology my teacher talks about many different topics. He goes from the history of biology to proteins and such. From yesterday's class I am supposed to be learning about the structures of a cell. I learned about the cell wall on a plant cell. This is all review though. I remember learning about this in fifth grade. However this is what our teacher wants us to know. Anyway on to what else I am supposed to be learning in biology. I am supposed to be learning about something called osmosis. Also about all the different organelles in cells. Let me tell you I still am not a fan of biology. I never have and I probably never will be. All this that I am supposed to be learning is not really new. Learning it now does not make me like the class anymore than I did.
In psychology I am starting to learn about human development. I am learning about how the mind starts out in an infant and is not fully developed until the child is about two years old. I am learning also about the aging of the mind and brain. I am also learning about the different theories about mind development. I really thought all of this was pretty nifty. My major is psychology so I am always interested in learning new topics.
In math class I am supposed to be learning "new" things. However I have already learned this stuff back in high school. We are learning about probability. Not a new topic for me. That class is not my favorite either.
In government we are learning about federalism. Also I am always learning about current events.
In english class we are learning about how to write different papers. Now I was just given a topic to do a profile paper. That is something I have not done before. I am really interested to start on that.

Greek Week
I am a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority here at AUM. This means I am part of the Greek Life. This week all Greeks are participating in "Greek Week." This is a week full of events to get word out about the Greek Life here at AUM. All week we are holding a fund raiser called "Bucks for Books." This is to help raise money for the library since its funds got cut. All the Greeks are split up into three teams. On my team there is Delta Zeta, Delta Sigma Theta, and Lambda Chi Alpha. In the end the team that raises the most money for the library gets a prize. The fundraiser is not the only thing going on. Today we are going to have a step/dance show at noon on the quad. From 10-2 today each Greek chapter is going to have a table set up on the quad for people to come look at and also talk to some of the members. Each day this week there is an event planned. As a member of the Greek Life I am really excited to see how this week works out. I hope it brings all of the Greeks together. I also hope that if there is anyone who is curious about joining a sorority or fraternity they will get any questions they have answered. I hope that they will see that Greek Life is for them. Even if sororities or fraternities are not for some people, I still hope they come out and support us and participate in all of the events.
Halloween
I have always loved Halloween! I loved getting dressed up in my costume and goin gout to get candy! Then I got older and I could not go out and get candy. At my high school we had what was called "Trick-or-Treat Street." Kids would come through the halls of the building and go to different stations set up by different organizations from school. Since I could not go and get candy any more because I was too old, I always worked at "Trick-or-Treat Street." It was always fun! I still got to dress up in a costume, but instead of getting candy I gave out candy to the younger children. Our costumes could not be too scary because we had little kids come through. I always decided to be something funny. One year I was Mama from "Mama's Family." Another year I was my math teacher. My senior year was my favorite. I dressed up as a construction worker. I had this big shirt that my mom helped me stuff with some pillows to make me look really big. I had a tool belt, which I though was really awesome. I of course had my hat. It was just really funny. The kids had a field day with me. I also loved working at my school for Halloween because I got to see all the little kids in their costumes. That was always so much fun. There was such a variety. From princesses to football players to bumble bees to little monsters to anything you could imagine. I have always loved Halloween because I love the costumes. Yes I love the candy to, but seeing how creative people can be with their outfits is the best part for me.

My trip to Gatlinburg with my Delta Zeta sisters
This past weekend was so much fun! My sorority went to Gatlinburg for a New Member Retreat. This retreat was used for a time for the "baby turtles" to have a chance to get to know the older "turtles." We left on Friday and the trip its self was outstanding. The group I was riding with left later than everyone else because the driver had to work until lunch time. I knew from the moment I got into the car the trip was going to be awesome! We were all excited to get to Gatlinburg! Well on our trip we had to go through Georgia. We stopped at this gas station and there were these biker men. Well, we went inside bought what we wanted and went potty. Then I got the bright idea to go outside and take a picture of the motorcycles because my dad is a big motorcycle guy. One of my DZ sisters, Deem, went with me. Well I took the picture, and the biker guys saw us taking pictures. They told us if we wanted a real picture we should come over there. They seemed nice and we were in broad day light so we walked over there. We got to take pictures with a couple of the biker guys. Deem even got on one of the motorcycles and got a picture. It was hilarious! They asked us where we were heading towards. We told them Gatlinburg, and come to find out that is where they were going too! Then we got back on the road. Finally we made it to Tennessee! Well we stopped again. Another one of my DZ sisters, Jasmine, bought some scratch off tickets. She won five dollars! Man was she excited! Back on the road we went after Jasmine claimed her five dollars. We get to Pigeon Forge, and come to find out there was a car show going on at the same time. Let me tell you, traffic was HELL. There is no other way to describe it! It took us two hours to go five miles. Guys are hollering at us from their cars and trucks. Nondriving people are pulling out in front of cars trying to cause accidents. I mean it was HELL! FINALLY we got out of the traffic. We are driving up to our cabin, and what do we see? A BLACK BEAR! We are SCREAMING and Jasmine was crying. We get to our cabin, grab our stuff, and run in to tell the girl what we saw. Then everyone was freaked out. Well after the bear faze calmed down, we all just sat down and talked for a while. We ate dinner and talked some more. Finally about three in the morning it was time for bed. So I went to the room I was staying in with Rodna. I fell asleep and I had a dream that Rodna slapped the mess out of me! I woke up shaking and freaking out. I fell back asleep. About 10 in the morning another DZ sister, Erin, came in to wake us up so we would be ready for breakfast and white water rafting. At first I thought I was dreaming. According to Erin I looked at her really funny. Then I realized I was not dreaming and I got up. Breakfast was great thanks to Cassie and Jeni (DZ sisters). Then it was time to get ready to go white water rafting! We loaded up in the cars and it was time to go. First we had to go to the office and then get directions to the actual rafting place. After 45 minutes we made it to the Rafting place. We got registered and divided into our groups. Then we got paired up with our guides. My group's guide's name was Parks. He did not talk much. We had to load up on a bus, and ride up to where the white water rafting would start. It started at the North Carolina/Tennesse state line! This had me excited because I had never been to North Carolina. Of course, I walked over to the line and crossed it so I could tell people I had been to North Carolina. Anyway, we got all ready, and it was in the raft we went. White water rafting was SO much fun. We had class 3 and 4 rapids(out of a scale from 1-6). It was crazy! I loved it though! After white water rafting we changed and loaded back up in our cars. We were told we were on our on for lunch. My group went to McDonalds. Then we went back to the cabin. We saw more bears! It was a momma bear and her three cubs. That freaked everyone out. Then we just chilled out at the cabin. Some people went shopping, but I just got in the hot tub with some of the sisters. Then after showers, we started to watch the Auburn game. During the game we heard this screaming. So we run to the door and there was a raccoon! I named it Ricky, and yes people laughed. He was so super cute! Then Erin had the bright idea to feed him a dorito. After that he did not want to leave. Finally after a little while he realized we were not going to feed him again, so he left. Then it was time to eat! Supper was amazing! We had home made spagetti and meat balls. Then it was more football. All you could hear was people hollering at the tv. That was so funny! Then we hear screaming again. We look and on our poarch there are 3 raccoons! Because Erin fed that one raccoon, he decided to bring friends. That was fun for a little while and then we thought if we ignored them they would leave, and they did. Then we decided to watch a movie. Around one in the morning, I decided it was bed time for me. Bright and early sunday morning it was time to load everything up and go home. This time I rode with my DZ sisters Nooner, Erin, Rodna, Kate, and Amy. That was a funny group! We head off to drop the key off. After that the gps system (we named her Lola) told us to turn right. We turned right and started going. We kept going and realized we were going up a mountain. After twenty minutes, we ended up at the North Carolina line! We had to turn around and drive twenty minutes back the other way. Come to find out we were NOT supposed to have turned right. Lola lied to us. Finally we made it to the pancake house we were going to eat at! Let me just say those pancakes were AMAZING! After eating we went into the gift shop. I found a beanie-baby raccoon. It reminded me of Ricky from the cabin! I looked at his name tag and his name was Ricky! Right then I knew, I had to buy him! We loaded back up and headed home! Traffic was HORRIBLE! But all we did was laugh in the car. Then I fell asleep. I woke up when we stopped at a gas station, and got some chips and a drink. We loaded back up. I ate and then fell asleep agian. After I woke up, I just talked to my sisters and really bonded with them. Then we finally made it home at 8 that night. It was an awesome experience! I had the absolute best time!

Meet Joe Blog
This story starts off by telling what each blog editor did, where the lived, and how old they were. I think they did this to show the differences in their backgrounds, professions, and ages. They wanted to show that no matter the differences, they could be successful.
The story then goes on to give some background on blogs. It tells what blogs are, when they came about, and what they were mainly used by the people for. The story tells us that blogs can be about anything. This opens the door for anyone and everyone to be able to sit down and write their thoughts.
As we read on, we learn that it was in 1999 when websites began to offer free software for users to create their own blogs with no cost. This was the kick-start to the blog-boom. By 2002 one website had over 900,000 users creating blogs.
Then we are told that as time went on and conflicts happened, people were posting their opinions online in the form of blogs. These blogs were getting read by big news covering companies. This showed that blogs were effective. Blogs were being used to get thoughts, opinions, and ideas out to the world.
We are shown that the reason blogs are so effective is because they are free. Who knew that this little free software would have such a big impact on the world? Blogs have helped people getting their writings published. They have helped people get their voices heard. The military uses blogs to get their stories told. They give hardcore descriptions of their tours on duty. Blogs have been about things from politics to just how people are feeling about their day.
We learn that blogs have a big impact on the world. Yes there are some downsides to them, but over all they are a great way to get voices heard. Even politicians are using blogs to show people how they feel. Sure the blog will not get them into office, but it helps to show that these politicians are real people to.
The blog world is not going anywhere. In my opinion, after reading this story, the world of blogging has found its permanent spot.

Excel, Alabama
I have not lived in Montgomery all my life. Actually, I have not lived in one certain town all my life. However, I have most recently lived in a small, dot-on-the-map town called Excel since 2004. Excel is NOTHING like Montgomery. The school in Excel is K-12 with 1,000 students. I graduated with fifty people in my senior class. Whereas in Montgomery, schools have way over 1,000 people, and senior classes have 300 students. Excel has more cows than people. It is a huge farm, country town. FFA (Future Farmers of America) is pretty much the BIGGEST club at school. Football is pretty big, but baseball is even bigger. We have these things called P-Nut Boils as pep-rallies for some of our games. The town consists of: a gas station, a post office, a little rinky-dink store, a tiny little diner, and a school. If you wanted to go somewhere to get real groceries, you had to drive about 15 minutes to WalMart. The closest mall is about two hours away from Excel. Really the closest anything is two hours away. When I moved up here to Montgomery, I was in culture shock. There is a mall 5 minutes away. To me there is so much to do! The town is SO big. I went from little country town to this big city over night! It amazed me to see all the differences. Really, it just amazed me to see all of the people. I have never been around so many different people. I was used to seeing the same people EVERY SINGLE day! Now, I only see the same people in my classes. I do not see the same people walking around campus every. There is no other comparison. Excel and Montgomery are COMPLETE opposites of each other.

Kanye on the VMAs
I do not care what anyone says. Kanye was wrong for what he did to Taylor Swift last night on the MTV Video Music Awards. Taylor Swift won the award for best female video over Beyonce. Do not get me wrong I like Beyonce over Taylor Swift. However, that is no excuse. Taylor won over Beyonce fair and square. During Taylor's acceptance speech, Kanye West decides to get on stage, take the microphone out of Taylor's hand, and give his comment on how Beyonce's video was the best of all time. He ruined Taylor's moment. He made her cry. Why would someone do that? I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion. However, learn to control it. If he was going to say what he thought, Kanye should have waited until after Taylor's speech was given. We all know Kanye is a jerk. He should let his music do the talking for him. He needs to let his music speak more than he actually does. No one wants to see someone like Kanye take away the limelight away from someone like Taylor Swift. I think really he is just jealous because no one is paying attention to him right now. If he wants attention, why doesn't he make another album. Is that too easy for him? I will never understand what Kanye West was thinking at the time he decided to do that?
I got an owie
Back in my younger days I used to have a big collection of porcelain dolls. I loved those dolls because they were so pretty. I always knew to be gentle with them because I knew they were extremely fragile. One evening I was playing with my favorite doll just as I always did. Nothing out of the ordinary. I was playing with her hair and dressing her up. Well I picked my doll up and something caused me to drop her. She broke to pieces. I tried picking up the pieces and fixing her. In the midst of all of this, I cut my thumb wide open. At first I did not know what to think. Then I just began to scream as loud as I could. My mother came running to my room. She started to flip out and wanted to know what happened. I showed her my thumb, and she began to scream. In runs my dad. He sees what happens, picks me up, loads me in the truck, and it is off to the hospital we go. When I got to the hospital, they took me right on back to a room. My dad told the nurses that they needed to tell the doctor to hurry and get to my room to help me because I was highly prone to infections. The doctor rushes in to my room to see what all of the commotion is all about. He sees my thumb and immediately gets to work. He cleaned my thumb with some icky brown stuff. He said it would not hurt, but it stung pretty bad. Then it was time for the worst part. I had to have stitches. I can not exactly remember how many, but I do know I had to have them. I hated this part. It was awful. However, I knew it had to be done. I sucked it up like a big girl, and had my stitches sown in. After that was all done, I got to go home. It was pretty late by the time we got back, so my mother made me get in the bed. She made sure I did not need anything, and it was off to sleep for me. I lucked out. My cut never got infected which was good because my mother was paranoid about it for days. After this incident with my porcelain doll, I got rid of all of them. I was so afraid it was going to happen again, that I did not want my dolls anymore.

Winning weekend (in a sense)

First of all I would like to make this fact known: I am a DIE-HARD Florida Gators fan! The Gators first game was this past Saturday. They played against Charleston Southern. It is true that I have no idea who Charleston Southern is, but excitement filled my soul about the game. I got all ready to watch the game with my mom! She is not a real big fan, but she watched it with me since it made me happy. The game was AMAZING! Touchdown after touchdown for the Gators. They looked spectacular on the field! They played as a united team under the leadership of Tim Tebow. The ending score was 62-3 with a win for the Gators! I could not have been happier!
Another fact about me: I love NASCAR! Kasey Kahne, the driver of the number nine car, is
my absolute beyond favorite driver. His driving skills are amazing. Over the weekend they had a practice and qualifying for placement for the starting lineup for the race in Atlanta. At qualifying Kasey Kahne qualified to start second. I was ecstatic! Raceday Sunday finally came! The race starts. Kahne is looking amazing on the track. 10 laps remain in the race, Kasey Kahne takes the lead. This lead remains until he crossed victory lane! His second win of the season! Yes, I did a victory dance! My sports weekend turned out to be a big success. My football team and my race car driver both came home with victories!
Please help me understand!
This past Sunday I loaded up my explorer and headed back to campus from my home town of Excel, Alabama. I was driving down the road and I get on the interstate. Now you must understand, my explorer is a 1995. Therefore, I get nervous about it getting me back and forth on the interstate. My explorer being a '95 I do not go about 80 on the interstate (which yes this is still speeding, but still I know many people who go WAY faster than that). I set my cruise control on about 77. The trip is going well. I am listening to my radio and singing at the top of my lungs. Well I get to this point that is about 5 miles outside of Greenville, AL. This one car goes really fast and passes me. At this point there is a state trooper. Well I am in the right lane and I can not get over to the left lane, so I know that I need to get to the shoulder. I pull over to the shoulder. Well since the state trooper could not catch the person that passed me, he gets behind me. I am sitting in my car thinking "What..I can not be getting a ticket!" The state trooper walked up to my window and asked me if I knew why I was being pulled over. I told him I was speeding and I apologized for that. I gave him all the necessary cards and papers. He told me he was just going to make sure I was clear and I could go. That made me think I was not going to get a ticket. A few minutes later, the state trooper walks back up, hands my my stuff back, and also hands me a ticket! I was shocked! I could not believe I was getting a ticket for about seven miles over the speed limit. The state trooper then had the nerve to tell me to have a good day. Well I looked at the ticket and it stated that i was going 84 in a 70! This was impossible and I knew it. That moment was clear. His little radar did not clock me. It clocked the person that passed me. I did the right thing by getting on the shoulder because I could not get into the left lane. Since I did the right thing, I got the ticket. I called my my mom(I know it is wrong to talk on a cell phone and drive but I needed my momma) and I was so very upset. I told her everything. She knew that the ticket was injust. She told me not to worry about it, and she would be going to court with me. I get off the phone with her, and I continue driving to campus. When I made it to my dorm, I called my mom back. She said she talked to my dad. "Oh no" was my thought. I knew it was all over then. To my surprise, she said my dad did not get angry. She said that he knew about my explorer, and he knew I could not have been going that fast.
Now, I have a court date of October 20, in Greenville at 9 a.m. Sadly, I have to miss my math and biology classes to go to this court date. I am not happy at all. Luckily, my parents are going to meet me there so they can go to court with me. If I still have to plead guilty, my parents said I could go to a driver's class and the ticket would basically be erased. This fact settles me a little bit. Still no one really understands why I am so upset. I am upset because this is my very first ticket. My personal record has been violated forever.

My third grade bully
Back in my days of third grade I was a good student. I had all A's and my teacher liked me. In the midst of all the good things there was one issue I had. This girl decided that she did not like me and she was mean to me every day. The sad thing was, was that I was the ONLY person she was mean to! Everyone else thought that the girl was just one of the nicest people in the world. I did not understand why it was just me that she was picking on. I tried to be as nice as I could to the girl, but no matter how nice I was she was still very hateful towards me. She would take my pencils, tell me how bad my work was, or just say mean things to me (like telling me to shut up and such). I tried to tell the teacher, but the girl had the teacher fooled to. I felt really alone. Why was I getting picked on when I had done nothing wrong. No matter how mean the girl was to me I did what my mom told me to do and that is to "Kill her with kindness." Too bad it was not working. This went on for what felt like forever but it was actually a couple of months. Finally I just could not take it anymore. I begged my mom to please do something. My mom went to the school and had a talk with my teacher. My teacher could not understand because she thought that the girl that was bullying me was so sweet. The girl had everyone fooled. My mom had a long talk with my teacher, explaining to her that I would not make this up. She asked my teacher if I had ever made up a story before. Of course the answer was no. The next day in class my teacher asked some students if they had seen what the girl was doing to me. Most of them said no because the girl was so nice to them they did not think she could be mean to me. Luckily my best friend stood up for me and told the teacher that it was true I was being bullied. That moment my teacher took the actions she had to to fix this issue. Finally someone saw the truth. Everyone saw the girl in a different way than me because she was so mean to me and yet so nice to everyone else. Then the truth was revealed..she was jealous because she thought the teacher liked me better. When she realized that she could bully me and get away with it, she kept on because she thought the teacher liked her better since the teacher would not believe that I was being bullied. After that the bully-girl was seen in a different way. However I was still trying to look at her as a girl who needed a friend so I was still nice to her.
